Harley Modules

A module is the encoded shape of how a piece of expert work gets done: input fields, prompts, templates, multi-step pipelines and workflow logic for a specific task, packaged together.
Modules are plain data and configuration — not executable software.
Which makes them portable and inspectable — you can see exactly what a module does before you use it.

Stays on your computer
- Documents, recordings, templates, modules and settings, stored as ordinary files in a folder you choose on your own computer.
- No Harley Works account holds your documents — the app has no sync.
- Modules are plain data: fields, prompts, templates and pipelines, no executable code.
- No analytics or tracking software in the desktop apps.
Sent when you use AI, and to where
- Generating a document sends the prompt text, built from your inputs, to the AI provider you’ve chosen: Harley Cloud (default), Anthropic with your own key, or a local model via Ollama on your own machine.
- Audio is transcribed in the cloud — there is no local transcription.
- In Harley Vault, “Protected” mode is on by default: known person and company names are replaced with codes before anything is sent, and swapped back on your computer when the result returns. It’s best-effort — only names the app already knows are replaced.
- Harley Companion has no name-replacement step: transcripts go to Harley Cloud as they are.
The app does not encrypt the vault itself — that relies on your computer’s own disk encryption (FileVault on macOS, BitLocker on Windows).
What Harley Cloud does with a request
- Where it runs
- Harley Cloud runs on a server in Finland, in the EU. It passes text requests to Anthropic (Claude) and audio to a transcription provider — Groq, Mistral or ElevenLabs, depending on the transcription option. Those providers handle data under their own terms.
- Content is not logged
- Message logging is switched off: the text you send and the answers you get back are not written to Harley Cloud’s usage records.
- What is recorded per request
- For billing: the time, the model, the number of tokens, the cost, your anonymous install key and the connecting IP address. These usage records currently have no automatic expiry.
- Other logs and backups
- The web server keeps access logs (IP address, time, address requested, result) with access keys removed; they are rotated by size. Database backups are made nightly and deleted after 14 days.
- Your account
- Harley Cloud has no user accounts with names or passwords. An install gets an anonymous key. If you buy credit, the payment is handled by Stripe and we keep the payment reference, the amount and the email address you gave at checkout.

Origins
Harley began with medical reporting.
The name comes from Harley Street in London, long associated with medical expertise. What started as a way to structure complex clinical work into consistent reports became a broader system for turning expert processes into repeatable workflows — for any profession where expertise, consistency and process matter.
